After Saturdays storming opener against Risborough Rangers, the Mighty Mursley took on Old Bradwell United, at Old Bradwell.
Confidence was as high as a pie in the sky after Saturdays result and Mursley took no time in ripping their work clothes off, donning the bumble bee colours of Mursley and getting down to a marathon warm up session a Kenyan athlete would have problems with.
Mursley were still missing Wardell and also MOM against Risborough Martyn, who was on the run from his pending stag do, he was later picked up by the Stag Patrol in a cave in Outer Mongolia, nice try Mart!
Wayne, Jason and Steve Mooney started on the bench. The only other change from Saturday was Juzza came in for Ed starting up front with Brian, Old Bradwells defence must have thought the Harlem Globe Trotters were in town .
Mursley started brightly, Stimmo, Adam and Rob spraying some superb balls out of defence for the front two and midfielders to latch onto, Oli was energetic as always winning every header going whilst Disco Dino and John made sure Old Bradwell were kept at bay. Will was skinning anyone in his way and Kinnsy was making waves down the left. A neat move involving Disco, Oli and Kinnsy lead to a corner which resulted in the first goal. Kinnsy swung in a beauty of a cross which Juzza met with his head, bosh 1-0.
Old Bradwell didn't look like worrying Mursley and it wasn't long before another corner caused mayhem in the Bradwell defence where Disco Dino was on hand to head Mursley 2-0 up. A beauty of a finish!
Mursley were cruising, maybe too much. Bradwell burst into the box and their forward was chopped down like a tree, Adam shouted 'TTTIIMMMBBBEEERRRR' and the ref blew his whistle for a penalty right on half time. OB's captain finished the pen well. Half Time 2-1 to MU.
The boys gathered their thoughts and went out for the 2nd half.
The second half was a scrappy affair though Mursley had chances to kill the game off, Will Smith swinging in some perfect crosses only for Juzza to head wide on a couple of occasions, Brian hit the post as Mursley pushed for the killer goal.
Steve Mooney came on for Dino and showed what a skillful player he is, Wayne the nutmeg king replaced Juzz and Jason replaced Oli who's back was playing up. Mursley pushed on but even Rob's mega throw in's couldn't get us that opening we needed.
5 mins from full time Old Bradwell got the equaliser Mursley were dreading, their midfielder hit a low drive past Newsham into the corner......Bradwell celebrated like it was the FA Cup final as they knew that they had been outplayed all match and had grasped a lucky point.
Mursely dropped 2 points in this game but 1 point is better than none. On to the next game we go........
