Report

What can I say! After probably the lowest point and most dissapointing result I've had as manager followed by one of the most hard-working and committed displays from my team. In conditions that made football almost impossible we knocked a strong and determined Hoddesdon side out of the League Cup. Again another Premier side scalp!
I questioned the teams motivation and desire to win and they answered me with a perfomance full of all the good things this side has to offer. Peter Kent was back in goal and organised the back four in his own inimitable style and kept us in the game with some outstanding goalkeeping. Defensively it was the best we have been for a while with Chris Pittam back to his best, being supported with solid and tireless displays from Nixy, Lamby and Billy. In centre midfield we battled continually never letting the opposition settle with Steve Salmon and Andy Williams making tackle after tackle.Even Kate Moss (Micky B) was knocking peple over! Up front Ed was his normal brilliant best and Gavin Coatman showed a maturity I've not often seen in leading the line as he constantly overpowered their centre- backs and brought the midfield into play. Also a mention for Adam Kissane who at such a young age showed he was not intimidated by the physical nature of the match. I do want to point out that this is a squad effort and although the subs didnt get much of a run out, Clint,Dean,Joel and Matt are every bit as important to the side and contributed to the win as much as anyone. Thanks again to Darren and Alex for their work before and during the game
We must however keep up this level of effort and desire to win or days like Saturday will be quickly forgotten.
There I've mentioned everyone...( except Brodders who was injured but there to show his support as always.) Steve
